THE MUTTS LACROSSE CLUB
ABOUT THE MUTTS LC
The goal of the Mutts Lacrosse Club of Orange County was to serve the community and its players and was founded on a few core principles:
-
give every kid the opportunity to play, regardless of skill level
-
provide a fun, engaging, inclusive, and positive sports experience to both the athletes and their families
-
keep the costs low so that more kids can get on the field (prioritizing the player experience over profit at every turn)
From the very beginning, the Mutts LC was very much a family operation, with three generations chipping in to get the program off the ground. All board members were public school educators with over seventy combined years of teaching students of all ages, from K-12 to adult learners. They brought that love of students, that love of learning, and that desire to better their communities to this organization.
TUCKER AMIDON
MUTTS LC FOUNDER AND
PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Lacrosse has been a part of Mutts Founder and Program Director Tucker Amidon's life since he started learning the game as a high school sophomore in Chicago, Illinois. He continued his playing career at UC Irvine for a few years, where he was a good teammate but far from the best defender on the 1994 WCLL Division II championship team. For the last eight years, he has coached boys’ and girls’ youth recreation and club lacrosse teams, and men's junior varsity and varsity lacrosse teams at Yorba Linda High School. He loves this sport, its history and traditions, and its evolution, and he's thankful every day that he got to stay connected to it and watch these incredible athletes play with such intelligence, skill, and grit.

Outside of lacrosse, Coach Amidon is husband, a father of three amazing kids (all of whom play or played or coach lacrosse), a professor of English at Riverside City College, a shade tree mechanic, and a mediocre guitarist.
